UPDATE: We've reached our goal! Thanks to you, we've raised $20,000, enough to build one 20K House. With the addition of two generous donors who have committed to match every dollar raised, we raised $60,000 can now build three 20K Houses for underserved families in Hale County.
With time left, we ask you to continue your support of Rural Studio Projects! Proceeds raised above our initial goal can support other projects such as the Woodshop, Lions Park Shade and the Rural Studio Farm Project. Visit www.ruralstudio.org to learn more about all of our current projects.
Rural Studio is a design/build architecture program founded in Hale County, Ala., in 1993. It offers architecture students a hands-on education and provides well-designed public buildings and housing for an underserved community. Hale County is located deep in the heart of Alabama’s Black Belt Region, 150 miles west of Auburn’s main campus. Students are fully immersed within the community, practicing a more socially responsible model of architecture.
Each year, Auburn students design an affordable house. The goal of the project is to develop a product line of houses that provide a high-quality alternative to the typical trailer home. We call this the 20K House project. This year, with your support, students will design three houses and then build them for deserving families.
For Tiger Giving Day, we hope to raise at least $20,000, enough to build one 20K House. Two generous donors have committed to match every dollar raised. With your contribution, we could have $60,000 by the end of the day.
Give today to help the dream of home ownership become a reality for three Hale County families.
