Tiger Giving Day has ended, but you can continue to give to the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program.
Auburn’s Student Government Association is working to bring a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program to the university’s Medical Clinic. SANE programs are critical components of the recovery process for victims and survivors, providing them with forensic exams and necessary medications in the aftermath of a sexual assault.
Currently, forensic exams for students must be conducted at East Alabama Medical Center which poses concerns in terms of transportation, timing, and accessibility.
SGA’s goal of incorporating a certified SANE program into the university’s Medical Clinic will allow for increased access to time-sensitive medical care in a familiar and accessible environment for students.
Funds will be used to finance medications, educate nurses, and provide supplies needed to provide an exemplary response for students in the event of a sexual assault.
Through this initiative, SGA’s hope is to make Auburn a more responsive campus community for victims of sexual assault. We hope that you will stand with us to help provide for victims and survivors on Auburn’s campus.
