Baby Steps at Auburn University is a nonprofit unique to Auburn that empowers pregnant and parenting students facing an unplanned pregnancy at Auburn University to have their education and their babies by providing housing, support, and community.
The creation of the Baby Steps Scholarship will support Auburn University’s goal of promoting diversity, equity and inclusion among its student body, which is key to its educational mission.
The scholarship will provide support to pregnant and parenting students whose financial need makes attendance at Auburn cost-prohibitive.
College students who are parents represent one in five college students. Parenting students have nearly twice the student loan debt of students overall, and this scholarship would help alleviate the financial stress of tuition compounded with the needs of their child. This initiative would enhance retention at Auburn University and diversify our student body. This scholarship will impact generations, preventing cycles of poverty and pave the way for future Auburn University legacy students.
A donation to the scholarship is more than just a gift — it is a chance for a new generation of Auburn men and women to continue to further their education and make the world a better place.
This Tiger Giving Day, please join us to provide student-parents with the support they need to continue their education.
