UPDATE: We hit our goal early—thank you! Let's see if we can get to $7500 and provide an enhanced experience for our clients!
A sensory gym will benefit many of our clients at the Auburn University Speech and Hearing Clinic who need sensory engagement to fully participate in speech and language sessions, as well as those who need breaks during hearing and auditory processing testing.
Having a safe environment for children who might need a more expressive outlet to conduct sessions in—while providing for their sensory needs—is needed for successful sessions.
Our clinic does not yet have occupational therapy, but having a sensory gym will allow clients who previously had co-treatments with OT feel more comfortable transitioning to just speech therapy with a sensory plan.
Additionally, our clinic follows babies born premature that are at risk for hearing loss as well as other developmental delays. Audiology is moving towards including motor milestones and pediatric vestibular monitoring that would be able to be conducted in a sensory gym setting.
